Paris Hilton has been warned by US prosecutors that she could face jail ahead of a hearing today for a violation of her probation on a drink driving charge, according to court documents.
Prosecutors have recommended a jail term of 45 days after Hilton was charged with failing to enrol on an alcohol education programme and driving with a suspended licence.
An original sentence was suspended in January when Hilton was put on probation after she was arrested last September on suspicion of driving while under the influence.
She pleaded no contest to the charge and was sentenced to 36 months probation, alcohol education and a fine.
Attorney Rocky Delgadillo told the Associated Press news agency that the millionaire heiress would be treated in the same way as anyone else.
"Anyone who would have conducted themselves in a way that resulted in this set of facts, we would have made the same recommendation of 45 days in county jail, regardless of whether they were a celebrity or not," he said.
Hilton became a US TV star for her part in the show The Simple Life and has since starred in a number of films, including House of Wax and Wonderland.
She also recorded an album, titled Paris, which was critically panned in the UK.
